notable quote

I do not believe that sheer suffering teaches.

If suffering alone taught,

all the world would be wise,

since everyone suffers.

To suffering must be added mourning,

understanding, patience, love, openness

and the willingness to remain vulnerable.

organ donation

on april 19, 2009 we noted that hanna's parents had made the decision to donate hanna's organs - after all, it is what hanna would have wanted.

today we are thrilled to announce the following...

through SightLife - hanna's corneas were donated, another child sees through her eyes.

through Northwest Tissue Service - some of hanna's tissue was donated to a 7 year old boy

through LifeCenter Northwest - the following organ's were donated:

- right kidney - a 46 year old married woman with one child.

- left kidney - a 40 year old student studying computers.

- liver - an 8 year old little girl who wants to play golf and basketball.

- heart - a 9 year old little boy who likes to hunt, fish and hike.

today SIX people will live healthier and happier lives because of hanna.  they will see through her eyes, feel her heart beat, play, learn, and parent - they were given a rare gift, the gift of hanna.

you can read the letters and learn more about organ and tissue donation here.

CASA

On July 23, 2009, Hanna's Dream, Inc. made another local donation to CASA, a volunteer organization that helps children who have been removed from their homes for too many reasons to list.

We believed this organization was in-line with the mission statement of Hanna's Dream and are proud to donate to such a worthy cause.

hanna, peter pan and of course, tinkerbell

when the attached photo's from the first grade production of peter pan came to us, this was the email we received:

I'm sending you these pictures because Hanna was behind this entire thing. The first grade was going to put on a play at the end of the year for their parents so they discussed in length which play they wanted to do. It's no secret that Hanna WAS Tinkerbell so that was her choice and apparently she was VERY persuasive to her classmates because that's what they chose to do and Hanna was to be Tinkerbell. I think they decided on this the week before Spring Break so about two weeks before the accident. After the accident the kids were adamant on still doing the play and took it sooo serious every one of them and they all had parts and they all participated. One of the Mom's and Dad even made the great backdrops that you see to make it extra special. They did such a GREAT JOB! It was amazing how serious they were and how well they did. Hanna would have been so proud. They really wanted to honor her and dedicated their production to her. Such an amazing way to honor their friend that they all miss so much. Robin came and watched the play and gave lots of hugs and the kids were so thrilled to see her.

naturally it was no surprise to hear any of this and we are sure hanna spread a little fairy dust on the production.
